What was I thinking? Off course most of my gadgets didn't work anymore on the new OS of Microsoft. So in januari 2009 operation recode and redesign started. Since Microsoft changed some things on how the sidebar now handles the gadgets I saw some oportunities to create some new variants of existing gadgets. The good thing about the new interface is that we actually cannot talk of a sidebar anymore as every side of your screen (top, bottom, left or right) can be used to ‘dock’ your gadgets. This is where I thought that the gadgets where a lot of stuf was bundled on (like disk monitor where the gadget monitorred 3 drives at a time) could use a change. As we have a lot of space to use now, some new variants were created from the old ones. Onedrive, Upbar and Downbar gadget are an example of this. As the older gadget would have all of the info bundelled on one gadget, you now can set more gadgets on your desktop to obtain the same ‘intel’.

The new design of the gadgets is based on the new taskbar of Windows 7 which is flat styled and so are the new gadgets. Their color is black and now everybody is going to say : ‘ooh no not black again’. Well everybody saying that is wrong. The reason for that is the combination of the gadgets flat style and the abillity to adjust its opacity levels.

The opacity levels can be set by rightclicking on the gadget. So like a chameleon these gadgets will love any kind of wallpaper you put on your desktop, nomather what color it has.
